


No aspect of her and her sister’s personalities is hidden, it’s very human, maybe? That’s why even though at times one might find the protagonist unlikeable, there’s still that need tuggin your heart to keep turning pages. Her life comes to a boil when June finds her and tells her she has cancer. Jayne has even become estranged from her family, to the point where she’s avoiding her sister, June, who also moved to New York for college and is rich and succesful. Her previous roommates kicked her out, her current roommate– not-boyfriend-idiot-who-uses-her-I-want-him-guillotined is a character that I wish I could strangle, she sometimes doesn’t know if she will able to pay for rent and is also failing school. She’s a college fashion student in New York City, moved in from Texas and expected all of her problems to be a background, because it’s New York, right? However, she keeps finding herself getting into messes.

I’ve tried many times to take a breath and describe her in one sentence but it just won’t come out. So, let’s start with a little introduction, shall we? This is a very character driven story. Consider this a massive content warning for eating disorders, dysmorphia, bulimia, cancer, female fertility and parental abandonment.
